Romania 90 years
On 1st December 2008, all the members of IRCBA celebrated the 90th aniversary of
the Romanian state. Members and their guest from the MidWest Region including Dublin,
Cork, Galway, Clare, Tiperary and Kerry participated in the event.

The Nepalese women invited us to attend at…. It was a colourful event, we
listen to traditional music and enjoyed traditional spicy food and traditional dances.
The event is dedicated to the women in Nepal and takes place every year.
6 June 2009
The AGM of NCP took place in Limerick. The event gathered leaders of minorities
from Ireland. The purpose of the meeting was to present the achievements and future
plans of the organization and for the Romanian minority to meet the leader of Romanian
Community, Anca Lupu from Dublin.
13 May 2009 – Dublin
Together with some of the NCP (see. www.newcommunitiespartnership.ie) members, we
visited the Parliament in Dublin. A guide presented us the history of the building
that is today the Irish Parliament. The visit was a good opportunity to learn about
the recent history of Ireland and its leaders.
18 December 2008
On the 18th December 2008 a few members of IRCBA took part to the……..
The event gathered all the minorities from Limerick under the same roof. The visitors
could admire traditional art objects, listen to specific music and taste food from
each country who attended the event. Our stand hosted Romanian pottery, traditional
sculptures and images from Romania and of course a wooden mask representing Dracula,
the most popular Romanian character.
1 December 2008 – Romania National Day
On the 1st of December 2008 IRCBA organised the celebration of the national day.
The event took place at Synotts Pub in Annacotty, Co. Limerick. It was a pleasant
and interesting evening, a good opportunity for the Romanians to meet each other
and for the guests to find out more about Romanian culture. The participants enjoyed
the evening having dinner, listening to Romanian Christmas Carols and taking part
in a raffle organized by the hosts. The organizers wish to express their gratitude
to those who helped the event to be successful.
23rd of May 2008 - Exhibition of Arts and Crafts at Hunt Museum, Limerick
On the 23rd of May two IRCBA members, Maria Plamada and Stela Tonita took part at
the Exhibition of Arts and Crafts at Hunt Museum. The event celebrated Africa’s
Day, African culture and African population that live in Ireland. The understanding
of African Culture and civilisation is a first step towards a good cohabitation
with the local people.
3 May 2008 – BBQ Festival on George’s Quay
On the 3rd of May 2008 a group of IRCBA members took part to the Limerick BBQ Festival.
The Festival was the host of up to 100 teams from all over the world. The IRCBA
team took part joined the Festival in the first day for the World BBQ Cook Off.
People of Limerick had the opportunity to taste food specific to every participant
country.
Good weather, the effort of the organizers, the best chefs and the interest of the
Limerick citizens in the event transformed the first days of May in a feast.
29 April 2008 – Official Launch of the IRCBA
On the 29th of April 2008 a group of Romanian and Irish members of the IRCBA met
the Mayor of Limerick City, Mr. Ger Fahy. The purpose of the meeting was the Launch
of the organization and at the same time it was the first official meeting of the
IRCBA with another public organization. The IRCBA message to the City Hall is that
we are a part of the society and we want to work together and to add value to the
Irish society. The Mayor’s message to the IRCBA members is that the institution
he is leading will support the IRCBA activities and all other migrants from Limerick
County.
